Collaboration

After graduation, Josh was chosen as one of the lucky few to take part in The Design Kids' typography exhibition, and had the pleasure of working with renowned typographer Luke Lucas and the very talented Eliza Svikulis.

The brief was to design a poster based around a three word phrase, each member of the team was responsible for designing the typography[hy for one of the words. The team chose ‘Blah! Blah! Blah!’ allowing them the freedom to be experimental without a sense of meaning.
As this was a chance to gain experience working alongside Luke Lucas, I opted to push myself out of my comfort zone in pursuit of a modern blackletter style. This experience was invaluable, opening my eyes to traditional styling and taught me a huge amount about structure and composition. The final design was laser-etched onto timber and mounted on a wall in an undisclosed area of Melbourne’s CBD.
